Year in Focus Recap


 Hey Parents, 


Pastor Josiah here. First, thank you so much to all the parents who made it out to our Year-in-Focus Meeting yesterday! I think it was a valuable time for those in attendance but I know for various reasons some of you had to miss it. I thought I would make a post here to serve as a summation of the information provided in that meeting. 

We spent a good portion of the meeting explaining how students and parents can be engaged in the Creative Discipleship Program this year. Please see this blog post for more details. 

We also took advantage of the time to let you know about some of the upcoming events on the remainder of this calendar year's Student Ministry Calendar.

We also wanted to make it easy for you guys to plan for some of our larger retreats and camps this year so here is a little bit more information about what we are planning a little farther down the line.

Word of Life – The Coast

June 9 - 15, 2024

While we are not planning on emphasizing Word of Life as our main summer camp offering this summer we wanted to encourage our families who wanted to pursue their programming anyway to sign up for this week to allow students to experience camp together as a group. Interested parties can register as individuals and simply request to be cabinmates with their ESM peers or if parents are interested I can help you register as a group as we have done in the past.

Creative Discipleship Challenge Details

  Hey Parents! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith. Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart! We looked at the following Scripture passages: 1 Kings 1:28-30; 3:4-15; 9:1-9; 11:1-13 John 14:23-24 While the whole story of Solomon is fascinating, these passages will help you see the highlights that were studied.
