Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 46

Dear Parents, Hello again! We are now entering week 46 in our walk through the Thread. This week’s lesson was a different sort of lesson where we started to talk about the letters written to the first churches after Christ’s death and resurrection. This lesson focused on Paul’s letter to the Colossians. We looked at the following Scripture passages: ·          Colossians 1:15-23 ·          Ephesians 1:3&4 You’ll enjoy reading these powerful passages that show us the power of God’s atonement from our sin. Next Steps . . . During the week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager: •       Did this week’s Scripture passage from Colossians change the way you look at your relationship with the Lord? (Share with your child how you feel about this idea as well.) •       What did you think of the idea that Jesus is supreme over everything? •       How would you describe your faith walk with Jesus? This is how I would describe mine…

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 45

Dear Parents, Hello again! We’re on week 45 of The Thread , and I’ve loved the conversations that have been happening in our group. I hope your teenager has been enjoying it. This week’s lesson was entitled “A Letter from Paul, Part 1 (Romans).” It was all about understanding that we are all sinners and that our sin condemns us. But, we were reminded that there is salvation through faith in Jesus. Students were challenged to examine how effectively their lives bear testimony to their faith. We looked at the following Scripture passages: Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:9-10 Matthew 10:32-33 You’ll enjoy reading these powerful passages that help us understand God’s free gift of salvation that comes through Jesus and what it means to trust in him. Next Steps . . . During the week, set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager: ·          What is the gift that God has given us through Jesus? How is that different from what we deserve? ·          Wh

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 44

Dear Parents, Hello again! We’ve made it to our 44th week of The Thread , our year-long look at the big-picture story of the Bible. This week’s lesson was a really awesome time of fellowship and learning. I hope your teenager enjoyed it. This week, the lesson was entitled “ Paul’s Conversion and Mission ,” and it focused on Saul’s conversion experience on the Road to Damascus, God’s calling on his life, and how we relate to what God did in his life. We looked at the following Scripture passages: Acts 9:1-19 Ephesians 2:4-10 These are some great passages about God’s gracious gift of salvation through grace to undeserving sinners. Next Steps . . . During the week, set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager: ·          What do you think about Saul’s conversion experience? Does it seem more incredible than ours? Or can you see how every conversion is equally miraculous? Explain. ·          God clearly saved Saul for a specific purpos

Image
Hey Parents, We want to make a practice of passing along good information when we receive it. Our Pasco Sheriffs Office just shared the following images from the Idaho Anti-Trafficking Coalition. The research was conducted through "Smart Social" and gave recommendations to be cautious of your teen using the following Apps: We care a lot about your student's safety and encourage you to engage with them regularly about their internet and smartphone use. Here are links to the PDF's for your reference: http://bit.ly/AppsThatHurtPart1 http://bit.ly/AppsThatHurtPart2 Again this recommendation is not our own but came from the Idaho Anti-Trafficking Coalition , and was shared by our Pasco County Sherrif's Office on their Instagram account .

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 43

Dear Parents, Hello parents! This week we were in our 43 rd lesson of The Thread series. It’s been cool to see our students engaging with the big-picture story of the Bible for this long. This week’s lesson was entitled “The Murder of Stephen and Persecution.” We looked at the stoning of Stephen and how it sparked the widespread persecution of Christians. While that sounds like a bleak topic, we got to see how the Lord used the scattering of Christians during that time to spread the Gospel to different regions. We then looked a little deeper at Jesus’ promises that His followers would experience mistreatment on His behalf. That, too, sounds bleak, but Jesus assured us that while we have trouble in this world, He has overcome the world. These are the passages we looked at during this week’s lesson. We looked at the following Scripture passages: Acts 6:8-8:3 John 15:18-21; 16:33 As you read these scriptures, think about the lives we live today and what it means for us
