Image
Objective - Students will learn that God is compassionate and will be encouraged to express appreciation for His mercy and grace. Key Scripture - Ephesians 2:4 "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us." Key Thought -  God’s compassion is expressed by His mercy and grace.  Lesson Summary -  Today’s lesson was the third of a four-part series called, That’s Him! God’s More Than You Think. In this series, we have been discussing some of the different attributes of God.  In this specific lesson, we emphasized God’s compassion. We taught the students that God’s compassion is expressed by His mercy and grace and made sure they understood what both mercy and grace mean. We assured the students that God cares about them even when they don’t feel like He does.  We also acknowledged that there are times when students question if anyone cares about them. Some may feel that way about their parents, wondering if they really care about them. Many

Objective -  Students will learn that God is always just and will be challenged to trust that His justice is fair justice even when life seems unfair. Key Scripture  - Psalm 89:14 "Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face." Key Thought  - God’s justice is always fair justice. Lesson Summary - Today’s lesson was the second of a four-part series called That’s Him! God Is More Than You Think. In this series, we are discussing some of the different attributes of God. In this specific lesson, we attempted to explain God’s justice and righteousness even though the world is full of injustice and unfairness. We highlighted the fact that God’s justice is always fair justice.  Describing God as “righteous” means He always does what is right. His justice and righteousness are inseparable from each other. To say that God is just is to say that He is upright. God will always do what is right which means God will always do what is fa

Objective -  Students will understand the goodness of God and will be encouraged to turn to Him in every circumstance. Key Scripture  - Psalm 34:8 "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" Key Thought -  God’s goodness is based on His character, not my circumstances. Lesson Summary -  This lesson was the first of a new four-part series called, That’s Him! God Is More Than You Think. This module covers some moral attributes of God as our Heavenly Father. The attribute we studied this week is the goodness of God. When the Bible says that God is good, it is saying that God is perfectly upright and morally excellent, always!  In God is the absence of evil. The absence of evil means that everything God does is only good. There is no ill will, no selfish intentions, and no prideful ambitions with God. God is not cruel! He is good. We used the life of Joseph to illustrate God’s goodness even in the midst of hard or hurtful circumstances. Joseph

Jail Break - Optimizing Growth

Objective - Students will learn their new life in Christ produces change and will take steps to grow to be more like Jesus. Key Scripture - Colossians 2:6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Summary - Today’s lesson was the fourth lesson in a four-part series called Jail Break: Set Free From Sin. This series has focused on the doctrinal truth of sin, but more importantly, how we can be free from it. A simple definition of sin is this: “Anything we think, say, or do that disobeys God.”   In this final lesson of the series, we discussed how we can grow and change in our spiritual lives. There are two different ways that people try to make changes in their lives: doing it in their own strength or allowing God to make those needed changes. The truth is, trying to grow and change in our own strength doesn’t work. As a way to connect
