Made to Magnify - Parent Connection

Image
Objective - Students will understand that they were made on purpose by God to glorify Him and will discover how to magnify Him in whatever they do.     Key Scripture - Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”     Key Thought - We were made to magnify our Maker.     Lesson Summary – Today’s lesson was the second lesson in a four-part series called Made: In the Image of God. The goal of this lesson is for students to understand that human beings were, first of all, made , and they were made to magnify their Maker.   Just like things that are designed have a designer, we too have a Designer. The students learned that they weren’t created by accident or happenstance, but they were fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Specifically, we used the example of the world’s largest LEGO set. The replica of the London Tower bridge took 5.8 million LEGO bricks but certainly didn’t assembl

Objective -  Students will understand that all people are made in the image of God and will choose to value their own life and the lives of others the way God values life.   Key Scripture -   Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.   Lesson Summary - Today's lesson was the first lesson in a four-part series called Made: In the Image of God. In this lesson, your student learned that all people have intrinsic value due to the fact that they are created in the image of God. All people should be treated as image-bearers of God. Your student learned that their value as a person was determined by God because they were made by God and, because of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death, their value was confirmed by the fact that Jesus died for them. They were challenged in two ways. 1. To view others how God views others, so they could value them as God values them. 2. To view themselves h

Objective - Students will learn the importance of accountability and will look to engage in an accountability relationship.   Key Scripture - James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.   Lesson Summary - Today’s lesson was the fourth lesson in a four-part series called #NoFilter: Keeping It Real. This series focuses on the basics of how to live the Christian life and how our lives can clearly and boldly demonstrate our relationship with Jesus. One way to keep it real in the Christian life is to create an accountability relationship with someone. In this lesson, we established the importance of accountability in our lives, what it includes, and who can make a good accountability partner. We challenged the students to intentionally establish a relationship with someone for the sole purpose of challenging each other to live in a way that is

Worship Unfiltered - Parent Connection

Key Scripture - Psalm 29:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.     Objective -  Willingly worship the One Who is worthy.     Summary - Today's lesson was the third lesson in a four-part series called #NoFilter: Keeping It Real. This series focuses on the basics of how to live the Christian life and how our lives can clearly and boldly demonstrate our relationship with Jesus. One way to keep it real in the Christian life is to sincerely worship God. No pretense. No phony religious rituals, but simple and sincere worship. So, our lesson tonight focused on the idea of unfiltered worship.   We defined “worship” as “any action or attitude that expresses praise, love, and appreciation for God,” and your students learned this truth: worship is about expressing God’s worth. When we don’t truly understand God’s worth, we won’t really value Him. When we don’t really value Him, our actions and attitudes will not expre
