Dear Parents, Hello again! We’re already on week 24 in The Thread , our year-long look at the big-picture story of the Bible. We had a great time hanging out and studying God’s word. I hope your child enjoyed it. This week, the lesson was entitled “Daniel in Exile.” And while we learned about Daniel’s life in exile, we ultimately focused on understanding how perfect, lasting deliverance comes through Christ’s death on the cross.   We looked at the following Scripture passages: Daniel 1 Daniel 6 ·          Colossians 1:11-14 You’ll love reading this passages and seeing how ultimate deliverance comes through Jesus Christ. Dear Parents, As we continue our study of the big-picture story of the Bible, we get to look at some topics that may be a little hard to discuss. The wrath of God is not a popular subject these days, but it is a Biblical truth. The Israelites disobedience to God’s laws, and outright evil living caused God’s punishment to be poured out in the form of the destruction of both Israel and Judah. This week’s lesson was entitled “The Destruction of Israel and Judah,” and your student learned that God is truly slow to anger, but will keep His promise pour out His wrath on our sin and disobedience. We looked at the following Scripture passages: ·          2 Kings 17:1-6 ·          2 Chronicles 36:11-21 ·          Romans 5:6-11 As you read these passages think about how you feel when you read about God’s righteous wrath and punishment, but also about his gracious salvation through Jesus. Dear Parents, Hello! We just finished our 22nd week of the series, “The Thread.” This week we spanned 17 books of the Bible in one week! Kind of cool, isn’t it?   We discussed the concept of the prophets, and learned the role the prophets played in the history of God’s people. We saw how God demonstrated His great love in His patience with humankind. And we challenged students to embrace their role in sharing the news of the Gospel with those who most need it. We looked at the following Scripture passages: ·          Jeremiah 2:1-13; 16:10-13; 31:31-34 ·          2 Peter 3:8-10 We used Jeremiah as an example of what a prophet’s relationship looks like with both God and God’s people. We talked about the patterns that prophecies had--charges against the nation for not upholding their covenant with God, judgment, and the reminder of future hope. Next Steps . . .
