Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 22

Dear Parents,

Hello! We just finished our 22nd week of the series, “The Thread.” This week we spanned 17 books of the Bible in one week! Kind of cool, isn’t it?  We discussed the concept of the prophets, and learned the role the prophets played in the history of God’s people. We saw how God demonstrated His great love in His patience with humankind. And we challenged students to embrace their role in sharing the news of the Gospel with those who most need it.

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
·         Jeremiah 2:1-13; 16:10-13; 31:31-34
·         2 Peter 3:8-10

We used Jeremiah as an example of what a prophet’s relationship looks like with both God and God’s people. We talked about the patterns that prophecies had--charges against the nation for not upholding their covenant with God, judgment, and the reminder of future hope.

Next Steps . . .
During the next week as you have time to talk with your child, consider asking the following questions:
·         What are some of the “big issues” in the world that feel hopeless at times? How could those issues use a prophet?
·         What are some ways that God can use you to speak to His people?

We hope that this week’s lesson doesn’t discourage our students to think about God as an overzealous judge, but a gracious God who wants to see His people love Him. As your child processes, feel free to contact us with ways we can best resource you!
