Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 51

Dear Parents, Hello again! We’re continuing on our study the Thread, where we’ve been tracing the Gospel story throughout the Bible. This week’s lesson was a really awesome time of diving into God’s Word. I hope your teenager enjoyed it. This week, the lesson was entitled “A Revelation, Part 1 , ” and it focused on helping students understand that even in the description of Jesus in Revelation, we see evidence of the Gospel message, helping students to see that all of Scripture points to Jesus as God, the rescuer of His children. The goal was to lead students to consider how they view Jesus, personally, and whether or not their view of Him is “big” enough. We looked at the following Scripture passages: •       Revelation 1:9-20 •       Isaiah 44:6 Next Steps . . . During the week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager: •       In this week’s lesson, we looked at how the church maintained hope in Jesus in the middle of persecution.

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 50

Dear Parents, This week in the Thread study we spent our time talking about love. The lesson was entitled “A Letter From John.” We looked at Jesus’ command to love others the way He loves us. We also studied John’s instructions to the church to demonstrate this type of love as a way of showing our community that we are true believers of the Gospel. John emphasized an important truth: we cannot show people the transforming power of the Gospel without evidence that we have been transformed. When we love as God loves, we show that life in Him is greater than life on our own. We looked at the following Scripture passages: 1 John 4:7-12 John 13:34-35 These are great verses to post somewhere in your home where your family can see them often. You may consider writing them on a piece of paper and sticking it to the fridge, or even writing on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker. The command to love as God loves is not an easy one, but it is our greatest tool to point oth

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 49

Dear Parents, Can you believe it?! There are only 3 more weeks until the end of our year-long Bible study called “The Thread.” Remember, this study shows that all of Scripture is united in one message: God’s redemptive work throughout the generations as ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ. This week, the lesson was entitled “A Letter From James,” and it focused on helping students understand that God has special concern for humanity’s neediest and most helpless. We learned that a true faith results in actions that show God’s love. Students had an opportunity to discover that Christians are set apart as God’s Holy Spirit enables us to demonstrate radical love. Finally, students had a time to consider how their actions demonstrate their faith; specifically as they relate to people with the greatest needs. I hope your teenager enjoyed it. We looked at the following Scripture passages: James 2:14-18 1 John 3:16-18 As you have time, dig into these scriptures. Explore t

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 48

Dear Parents, Hello! We are in week 48 of “The Thread,” and it has been quite a ride so far! Thank you so much for your continued involvement with your student through this 52-week study. This week we discussed unity and encouragement. We had some practical encouragement activities to go along with the Bible passages and discussion questions.   This week’s lesson was entitled “A Letter to the Hebrews.” The lesson’s purpose was for s tudents to realize the power they have to influence others when they strive to live Christ-centered lives in a spirit of unity with other Christ-followers. Students understood that they have great capacity to encourage one another to live as Christ-followers in their daily lives, as well as the importance of unity as it pertains to living as Christ-followers at school, and in their worlds.   We looked at the following Scripture passages: Hebrews 10: 19-25 Romans 15: 5-7 As you read these scriptures, consider the practical wisdom found
