Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 49

Dear Parents,
Can you believe it?! There are only 3 more weeks until the end of our year-long Bible study called “The Thread.” Remember, this study shows that all of Scripture is united in one message: God’s redemptive work throughout the generations as ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ.

This week, the lesson was entitled “A Letter From James,” and it focused on helping students understand that God has special concern for humanity’s neediest and most helpless. We learned that a true faith results in actions that show God’s love. Students had an opportunity to discover that Christians are set apart as God’s Holy Spirit enables us to demonstrate radical love. Finally, students had a time to consider how their actions demonstrate their faith; specifically as they relate to people with the greatest needs. I hope your teenager enjoyed it.

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
  • James 2:14-18
  • 1 John 3:16-18

As you have time, dig into these scriptures. Explore their relevance in your life and how that might be significant to your student.

Next Steps . . .
During the week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager:
·         You talked in youth group about how your faith in God is reflected in your actions. What actions do you think specifically make you different as a Christ-follower?
·         Were you convicted of anything during the lesson? Tell me about it.
·         How can our family do a better job of radically loving those in need around us? Is there anything you think we can practically do? Let’s put a plan in place to do it!

I hope this resource is a useful tool for you and your student. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to contact me.
