More than Money - Parent Connection

Image
Objective - Students will learn that a generous life is one that reflects Christ by putting others first and will be challenged to live generously.     Key Scripture - 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.       Key Thought - Generous living is more than just financial giving.     Lesson Summary - Today’s lesson was the second lesson in a four-part series called #NoFilter: Keeping It Real. This series focuses on the basics of how to live the Christian life and how our lives can clearly and boldly demonstrate our relationship with Jesus. One way to keep it real in the Christian life is to be a generous person. Since this is true, we specifically focused on what it means to be generous, how the life of Jesus can motivate us to be generous, and how we can take steps to be generous.     Students learned that generous living is more than just financial giving. Generosity is not just about giving but about

Going Public - Parent Connection

Objective - Students will understand what makes up a story of someone who trusts Christ for salvation and will be challenged to write out their own personal salvation story. Key Scripture – Ps. 107:2 - Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Key Thought - Make your story public.   Objective – Students will learn that God reveals Himself consistently throughout Scripture as a loving, forgiving, and just God—both in the Old and New Testament—and be challenged to mirror God’s forgiveness to others.   Key Scripture – Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.   Key Thought – “God has no alter ego.”   Lesson Summary – Today’s lesson was the fourth lesson of a four-part series called Evidence: Building a Case for the Existence of God. We have been looking at the question, “Does God exist?” In this final lesson on the existence of God, your student learned that God does not have an angry, vindictive alter ego in the Old Testament. Instead, your student learned that God is loving, just, and forgiving. We examined the Israelite conquest of Canaan to show that God is actually just and merciful. We also saw how God’s forgiveness and Jonah’s prejudice are displayed in the story of Jonah.   Your student was challenged to mi

A God Who Is Near - Parent Connection

Objective – Students will learn that the God Who exists is a personal God of love Who reveals Himself through Jesus, and will be challenged to draw near to God.   Key Scripture – 1 John 4:9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.   Key Thought – “Look at Jesus to see God.”   Lesson Summary – In our current four-part series, Evidence: Building a Case for the Existence of God, we are looking at the question, “Does God exist?” In this lesson, your student learned that God is personal and reveals Himself in the person of Jesus as a God of love. This counters two false ideas about God—that God is distant and uninvolved in the world and the idea that God is a sort of impersonal force.   Your student was challenged to draw near to God and to recognize that He is always with them. Your student was also encouraged to ask God to give them the desire to know Him better and t
