Going Public - Parent Connection

Objective - Students will understand what makes up a story of someone who trusts Christ for salvation and will be challenged to write out their own personal salvation story.

Key Scripture – Ps. 107:2 - Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

Key Thought - Make your story public.

Lesson Summary – Today’s lesson was the first lesson in a four-part series called #NoFilter: Keeping It Real. This series focuses on the basics of how to live the Christian life and how our lives can clearly and boldly demonstrate our relationship with Jesus. One way to keep it real in the Christian life is to share your salvation story with someone.

Today’s lesson helped students develop their own salvation story, the story of when they began a relationship with Jesus. We discussed several ways to be prepared to share. The students were then challenged to make their story public by sharing it with someone verbally or posting it to their favorite social media site if they have one.

A good way to encourage discussion and confidence in sharing their story would be to ask your student to share their story with you (even if you already know it) so that they can have practice in sharing. We have given them a worksheet so they can write out what they plan to say. Ask your student to see that worksheet and talk about their salvation story.

If you, as the parent, would like more information on what it means to have a salvation story, contact us here at the church. We would love to share with you what God tells us about how to have forgiveness of sin and a relationship with Him.
