Objective : Students will learn the key to beating discouragement and be empowered to bless others even while going through their own trials. Key Scripture : Psalm 46:1 Key Thought : Down, but not discouraged. Lesson Summary : Tonight, we continued our series called, “The Dreamer: Joseph’s Life of Faith.” We saw that Joseph had plenty of opportunities to be discouraged, but through his difficult situation of being forgotten in prison, he displayed unwavering faith. In our passage, Genesis 40, we discovered that Joseph used three tactics to defeat discouragement. Joseph squashed self-pity (Genesis 40:14-15) Joseph served others (Genesis 40:4) Joseph cared for others (Genesis 40:6-8) To defeat discouragement, your student was challenged to take his/her eyes off himself/herself and was challenged to find someone this week that he/she can both serve and care for. PATIENT FAITH Objective : Students will learn God is in control and choose to wait on His timing. Key Scripture : Psalm 37:7 Key Thought : God is so great; I can trust Him and wait. Lesson Summary : Today we began a series called “The Dreamer: Joseph’s Life of Faith.” As we looked at the difficulties of the life of Joseph, your student was challenged to patiently trust the sovereign God. We discussed the reality of personal trials and difficulties and encouraged your student to demonstrate patient faith. We challenged your student to read Psalm 37:7 each day as soon as he/she wakes up. Perhaps you can meditate on this passage as well. Use this verse as a way to begin a discussion with your student to learn what difficulties they may be facing. Take the opportunity to encourage and even pray with your student. Let him/her know that you will be reading Psalm 37:7 each day as well.

When two people are at odds with each other, the goal should be to bring both back into harmony. We call this reconciliation. Reconciliation is a change of relationship from hostility to harmony and from enmity to peace between two parties. Tonight, we tried to explain to the students that we can experience reconciliation with God and with others because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. In the lesson, we discovered some of the great riches that we have in Christ. Jesus Christ is our pardon, our peace, and our possession. We started the lesson
