A God Who Is Near - Parent Connection

Objective – Students will learn that the God Who exists is a personal God of love Who reveals Himself through Jesus, and will be challenged to draw near to God.

Key Scripture –

1 John 4:9

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Key Thought –

“Look at Jesus to see God.”

Lesson Summary –

In our current four-part series, Evidence: Building a Case for the Existence of God, we are looking at the question, “Does God exist?” In this lesson, your student learned that God is personal and reveals Himself in the person of Jesus as a God of love. This counters two false ideas about God—that God is distant and uninvolved in the world and the idea that God is a sort of impersonal force.

Your student was challenged to draw near to God and to recognize that He is always with them. Your student was also encouraged to ask God to give them the desire to know Him better and to draw near Him through prayer. Talk to your student about times when you have experienced God’s nearness through prayer. If you are struggling to draw near God, ask Him to give you that desire as well.
