Parent Connection - 1.10.2021


Objective- Students will understand that Jesus is superior to all others and will be challenged to stand in awe of Him and express appreciation for Him daily.

Key Thought- There ain’t nobody like Him! Lesson Summary-

The lesson tonight was the fourth lesson in a four-part series called “Jesus: Prophet, Priest, King, Intercessor, Mediator, Man, Eternal God, Unchanging King, and So Much More Than You Ever Thought.” Throughout this series, we have been exploring who Jesus is. This week, your teen learned several truths about Jesus.

 

Jesus is…

 

  1. God – He is the eternal God.

  2. The Firstborn of Creation – Not “born first” but the preeminent One.

  3. The Creator – Not a created being but the Creator of all.

  4. The Sustainer – Not only the Creator but the One Who holds creation together.

  5. The Head of the Church – He is the top rank.

  6. The Firstborn from the Dead – The ruler over our greatest enemies: sin and death.

  7. The Fullness of God – He is 100% God (and 100% Man)!

  8. The Savior – He is the only One Who can save you from your sin and restore your relationship with God the Father.

Each of these truths is a reason to worship Him as Lord and King. Your teen was given a card with all of these on it and challenged to express his/her appreciation to Jesus each time he/she prays. Consider taking that challenge with your teen and pray together, expressing appreciation for Jesus! Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart!   Hey Parents! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith.
