Guaranteed - A Sure Love

 

Objective - Students will learn about God’s love and be encouraged to show the same love to others. 


Key Scripture - 1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.


Key Thought - God living in you wants to love through you.


Lesson Summary - 

Today’s lesson was the last of a four-week series called Guaranteed. This series is a book study of the New Testament Book of 1 John and is called Guaranteed because the author of 1 John reminds us of several guarantees that we have from God. 

Today, your student learned about the love of God and how we are supposed to be loving others like God loves others. God is the standard of how we are to love because God is love. God showed His love by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for all of humanity. 

Since God loved us, we are to love others. But in order to love like God, we must first have a relationship with Him. According to John and other New Testament writers, once a person puts their faith in God and believes that Christ died and rose from the dead, they are saved. And at the moment of salvation, all believers in Him receive the Holy Spirit from God. With God in us, we can let Him love through us.

When believers love as God loves, the invisible God becomes visible. The world can see God through our love.

Sometime this week during dinner with the family, have your student read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 out loud so your family can see how to love. After reading this passage, encourage your student and the rest of the family to think of one person who needs to see God, and then commit together to show God’s love to them.

  Hey Parents,  I hope all of you students have made their way back into the rhythm of the school year well! Thank you so much for allowing your student to participate in our events designed to start this year off right. Whether it was Kick Ball, Year in Focus Meeting, our Pool Party, Soft Launch or Kick Off we have had a blast jumping into the new year with your students.  I just wanted to send a quick message letting you know about a few things on the horizon as we move into our first "normal week" of the new ESM school year.
