Supernatural - Avoiding Unholy Detours

Objective - Students will learn what influences Satan uses to affect lives and will be challenged to remove satanic influences from their entertainment choices.

Key Scripture - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Summary - This was the fourth and final lesson of a four-part series about angels and demons called Supernatural: More Than a Myth. Your student learned about some ways that satanic influence affects their lives. They were challenged to stay on the right path by casting down things in their lives that are against God. It would be wise for you to read Philippians 4:8 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 to help you understand the specific content that the students heard.

We discussed the many ways that Satan’s forces have infiltrated the world through occultic belief systems, world religions, and cultural influences, such as the entertainment industry. Your student learned that even in the midst of this, he or she can make good choices. This can be done by trusting God’s Word, listening to wise counsel, and praying about their decisions. But, it all begins with having a personal relationship with God. By believing in Jesus, we can have eternal life and a personal relationship with God.

As a starting point, your student was encouraged to trust Jesus Christ as Savior, if he or she has not yet trusted in Him. This is of critical importance when discussing the subject of supernatural influences. If your student has already trusted Christ, they were challenged to identify one of their entertainment choices that have ungodly, satanic influences in it and to rid their life of it. Ask your student to tell you the entertainment choice they identified and encourage them to follow through with eliminating it from their life.
