Supernatural - Joining the Resistance
Objective
– Students will understand Satan’s methods and will be encouraged to resist
Satan’s attacks.
Key
Scripture - 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except
such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be
tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the
way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Summary
- Today's lesson was the third of a four-part series on angels called Supernatural:
More Than a Myth. In this series, we are learning about the reality of
angels and demons. In this lesson, we focused specifically on the methods that
Satan uses to try to get us to sin. Your student learned about temptation. They
learned that all temptation finds its source in three areas: the lust of the
flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
In
addition, they were informed that God has equipped the believer in Jesus Christ
with spiritual weapons to battle against temptation. Finally, they were
encouraged by the fact that Jesus comes to our aid because He was tempted just
like we are, the Holy Spirit helps us resist temptation as we yield to Him, and
God the Father will never allow temptations to be greater than they can endure;
He will provide a way for us to escape temptation.
As
you can see from the lesson content, this was a heavy lesson but a very
important one since everyone experiences temptation. It would be helpful for
you to read 1 John 2:16, Luke 4:1-13, and 1 Corinthians 10:13 to understand
this topic more fully.
Your
student was challenged to put the information received to work for them. One
way they can do this is by memorizing a verse of Scripture that deals with a
temptation they personally face. Specifically, your student was encouraged to
identify what type of temptation they were facing, to look up a verse (or
verses) that applies to that temptation and memorize that Scripture verse.
Please help them follow through on this task by memorizing that verse with
them.
