Lesson Summary –
In this first lesson of a four-part series on angels called
Supernatural: More Than a Myth, your student learned about the reality of
angels. This is an interesting subject and one in which there are some
misconceptions.
We covered the fact that angels are created beings, distinct
from humans. We discussed that they have limits and that there are different
kinds of angels. The Bible actually gives the specific names of three angels
indicating that each has a distinct personality, similar to human beings.
In addition, we reviewed what angels do. They are God’s
messengers. They can be used to guide and protect individuals or groups
although we can’t prove from Scripture that personal guardian angels exist.
Encouragement is sometimes given by angels. Finally, God can use angels to help
us practice hospitality to strangers. As a way to connect with the content of
the lesson, read Hebrews 13:1-2.
Since angels are God’s servants and we are also called to
serve Him, your student was challenged to identify an area of service in which
they could participate. Ask your student about what they chose. Encourage them
to follow through and offer to help in any way you can. Cultivating service
among our youth is an important part of their spiritual growth. Each of us is
unique and can serve in specific ways to bring glory to God.
