Parent Connection - Our Adversary
Objective - Students will learn who Satan is and will
be challenged to actively resist him on a daily basis.
Key Scripture - 1 Peter 5:8-9 – “Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that
the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
Key Thought - Satan is our primary adversary.
Lesson Summary –
Today's lesson was the second lesson of a four-part series
on angels called Supernatural: More Than a Myth. The lesson dealt with a very
intense topic; we discussed what the Bible reveals about Satan. The Bible
describes him as the fallen angel, Lucifer, the Devil, our Adversary, the
prince of the power of the air, a dragon, and other heinous descriptions.
According to the Bible, Satan was created as a holy angel
but chose to rebel against God. As a result, he took many of the angels with
him; we refer to these fallen angels as demons. In this lesson, we talked about
where Satan came from, what abilities he has, his characteristics of rebellion
and deception, and the influence he has.
Your student was challenged to take steps this week to
actively resist the devil in at least one area of their life. As a way to
connect with the lesson, read 1 Peter 5:8-9 and discuss these verses with your
student sometime this week.
