It's Game Time - Livin' it up in Community

Objective - Students will learn the need for Christian community and will be encouraged to pursue genuine relationships with other believers in Jesus Christ.

Key Scripture - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.

Summary - This lesson is the last of a four-part series on Christian Basics called It’s Game Time: Working Together to Win. Today we learned about the origin, importance, and benefits of Christian community.

Despite living in a very connected time with smartphones and social media, many people are starving for genuine friendships. Humans weren’t designed for isolation. We are social beings. Ever since the beginning, God designed us for fellowship with others. Christian friends bless us with spiritual encouragement, accountability, and they help us grow in our love for Christ. Life can get rough, but we never have to go through it alone. We must surround ourselves with our spiritual family who can shower us with love and support.

The goal of this lesson was to challenge students to create connections that cultivate camaraderie. If they do so, they will discover that continued camaraderie creates community. As with all friendships, they take time to cultivate, but doing life together is vital to every believer.

As a way to connect with the biblical content that was taught, take the time to read Genesis 2:18-20 and Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. Your student was asked to list a few ideas for connecting with Christian community this week. Find out what your student wrote on their Student Notes page and help them take steps to connect with others in Christian
