Lesson Summary

Today's lesson was the fourth lesson of a four-part series entitled, Stand Tall: Staying Strong Through Adversity. It is actually a study from the first half of the biblical Book of Daniel. In it, we have discovered how Daniel and his friends stood tall for God as God’s purposes were worked out in their lives. Specifically, the students learned that even when they can’t be anything else, they can be faithful.

We looked at Daniel’s most famous opportunity to stand tall for God. The ironic thing is that he stood the tallest while he was physically on his knees. He was a man of phenomenal faithfulness and it was his faithfulness that both demonstrated his devotion to God and created difficulties for him. Our lesson came from chapter 6 of the Book of Daniel; we talked about Daniel in the lion’s den.

What is most amazing about this event was not the fact that God rescued Daniel from the lions, it is the fact that Daniel stayed faithful to God despite a potentially disastrous outcome. Daniel didn’t know the end of his own story like we do. He couldn’t be sure that the outcome would be positive, but he could be faithful.

The students were challenged to choose one area of their lives in which they would like to be faithful. Faithfulness is created by making one faithful decision at a time. Talk to your student about the area they chose. Encourage them daily as you see them display faithfulness. As a way to connect with the lesson, we encourage you to read Daniel 6 sometime this week to see the incredible faithfulness of Daniel.
