Stand Tall - Standing Together

Objective - Students will learn that godly friends make them stronger and will be challenged to stand together for God.

Scripture - Daniel 2:17-18 “Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.”

Key Thought - We are better when united together.

Lesson Summary

Today's lesson was the second lesson of a four-part series entitled, Stand Tall: Staying Strong Through Adversity. It is actually a study from the first part of the biblical Book of Daniel. In it, we are discovering how Daniel and his friends stood tall for God as God’s purposes were worked out in their lives.

In this lesson, your student learned about the importance of godly Christian friendships, friends who follow Jesus, help us to submit to authority, aid us in prayer, and promote one another as God uses them.

Your student was challenged to associate with friends who are going to be positive influences on his or her walk with Jesus. In addition, we discussed that strength in the Christian life is found in the unique ways God uses each person to benefit the group of godly friends. For this reason, there should be no jealousy when someone is used by God in a different way than others.

Ask your student if his or her friends are bringing them closer to God. Are they encouraging them to use their gifts and skills for God? Are they providing a good example? Also, encourage your student to be a good friend by demonstrating godly behavior to others.
