Home Inspection - Preventative Maintenance
Objective - Students will learn how to perform
preventive maintenance in their lives so they can live in integrity.
Scripture - 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has
overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will
not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation
will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
Key Thought - Stop problems before they start.
Lesson Summary –
This was the final lesson in a four-part series called Home
Inspection: Is Your Foundation Strong? In this series of lessons, we’ve been
talking about how to live a life consistent with biblical principles.”—in
short, how to live with integrity. “Integrity” means “to live a life consistent
with biblical principles.”
This lesson focused on how to perform maintenance in the
houses of our lives. We discussed two different kinds of maintenance that homes
may need, and drew a comparison to the work that we need to do in our spiritual
lives. Sometimes we need to fix our lives when they’ve been broken by sin. For
that, we need to admit to God that we’ve done wrong things, and repent, or
change our direction.
Additionally, we want to keep an eye on things in our homes
before they become a problem. We can do that in our spiritual lives through
relationships where a trusted friend holds us to the spiritual commitments that
we have made, as well as building good disciplines into our lives like
Scripture memory, Bible study, and quiet time.
To help your student know what the Bible says about an area
of their life that may need preventative maintenance, we encouraged them to
find out what the Bible says about that topic by doing an online search using
the words, “What does the Bible say about .”
Sit down with them this week and do some research about what the Bible says
about their topic of choice. Help them use Scripture to stop problems before
they start.
