Newness of Life - Parent Connection

Objective - Students will learn that the baptism of the Holy Spirit gives them new life and will be challenged to find meaning through their union with Christ.

Key Scripture - Romans 6:4  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Summary - Today we started a new four-part series about the Holy Spirit entitled Never Alone: Walking in Step with the Spirit. That’s a great thought! Believers are never alone when living their lives for Jesus Christ. We have the Holy Spirit, and we have one another. In this lesson, we talked about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit baptizes the believer into Christ at salvation, and the result is a union with Christ that gives greater meaning to life.

With that baptism comes the promise of not only eternal life but also a new life now. Our lives have true meaning because the baptism of the Holy Spirit places us in a new family, provides for us a new identity, and protects us with a new security.

Ask your student what they learned about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You can encourage them to continue following Christ by writing on a sticky note the words, “You are a child of God, and your life has meaning!” Stick it somewhere in their room and remember to say it to them often.
