Model of a Man - Parent Connection
Objective - Students will learn about the biblical
characteristics of a godly man and will be challenged to develop a biblical
worldview of masculinity.
Key Scripture - Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and
what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk
humbly with your God?
Lesson Summary - Today’s lesson was the third lesson in a
four-part series called Made: In the Image of God. In this lesson, your student
learned about the unique role that God has for each man. We talked about
masculinity. Your student learned about biblical characteristics for godly men
and was challenged to adopt a biblical worldview of masculinity. Specifically,
we reminded your student that:
Real men accept responsibility (Micah 6:8).
Real men fear God and keep His commands (Ecclesiastes 12:13;
1 Kings 2:1-3).
Real men model Jesus (Philippians 2:5-11).
We specifically challenged your student to pay attention to
the media (movies and videos) that they watch this week to see if they can
identify places where the biblical concept of masculinity is being distorted.
Make yourself available to your student and discuss the various messages
portrayed in our culture that distort biblical manhood. If you have boys,
challenge them to adopt the manly characteristics of being responsible, fearing
God and keeping His commands, and modeling their lives after Jesus. If you have
girls, challenge them to have a biblical concept of what a real man is and to
lovingly encourage the guys in their life to step up and accept the
responsibility of being a man.
