Life Guide! - Parent Connection
Objective - Students will
understand that the Holy Spirit indwells them at salvation and will choose to
listen to His guidance with submissive obedience.
Key Scripture –
Romans 8:11 - But if the Spirit of
Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the
dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in
you.
Key Thought - The Holy
Spirit inside you wants to guide you.
Lesson Summary - This lesson was the second in a four-part
series about the Holy Spirit entitled Never Alone: Walking in Step with the
Spirit. That’s a great thought: never alone! Believers never have to feel
alone because we have the Holy Spirit, and we have one another.
In this lesson, your students learned that life doesn’t have to be
directionless. We are not just wandering through life hoping to make it
somewhere. As followers of Jesus, God gave each of us the Holy Spirit. The
students learned the meaning of the theological teaching concerning “the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit” and how the Holy Spirit wants to guide them. He
wants to guide them by teaching them the truth, convicting
them of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by comforting them.
The Holy Spirit is their Life Guide Who will guide them to fulfill God’s
will. As they make important decisions in life, the Holy Spirit inside them
will guide them.
We also discussed four questions to ask when making important or
life-changing decisions:
1.
Does
it violate God’s Word?
2.
Does
it violate my conscience?
3.
Does
it violate the peace of God?
4.
Does
it violate godly counsel?
We also directed your student to seek your advice and counsel as parents.
Talk to your student this week about any important decisions they need to make
and let them know you are cheering them on as they pursue God’s direction.
