Lesson Summary

Today’s lesson was the third lesson of a four-part series called The Hunt: Discovering the Treasure of God’s Word. In this series, we are examining not only the treasures within God’s Word but how God’s Word is a map to find those treasures. This lesson taught your student why God’s path is the best path for life.

We considered a word equation found in Psalm 119. It starts with the knowledge that God’s character is good. He has no evil or darkness inside Him at all. Then, we added in the fact that God’s commands are good. They are not burdensome but beneficial. Finally, we considered how God’s calling is good. He calls us to be different and delight in Him. As we do the math here, we realize that these three truths add up to the truth that God’s chosen path for life must be for our good. The equation looked like this:

God’s character is good + God’s commands are good + God’s calling is good = God’s chosen path for my life must be for my good.

Your student was challenged to embrace this truth and choose to follow God’s path rather than a path away from God’s commands. We asked them to share this commitment on their social media pages and/or share it with a friend.

You can help build on this lesson with your student by sharing experiences from your own life where you’ve seen God work things together for your good. If these experiences involved moments of doubt, do not be afraid to share that with them. Allow them to ask questions about it and share their own thoughts. Ask them if they have any circumstances that they are going through that might be creating doubt or anxiety. Encourage them with any Bible verses that have helped you to trust God through those kinds of circumstances and pray with them about those feelings.
