It's About Time - Parent Connection

 

Objective - Students will be encouraged to invest daily time with God through Bible reading, prayer, and reflection and will be challenged to take purposeful action to live out what they learn.

 

Key Scripture - 1 Peter 2:2-3 “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

 

Key Thought - Investing time in your quiet time is a valuable use of time.

 

Lesson Summary –

Tonight’s lesson was the second lesson in a four-part series called Game Plan: A Strategy for Spiritual Growth. The goal of this series is to help students understand the need for them to exercise the spiritual disciplines necessary to function as strong Christians in the game of life.

In this lesson, we discussed the importance of spending time with God daily in prayer and the study of His Word, applying God’s Word to one’s life, as well as the significance of sharing what God is teaching them with others. Once we learned how to spend time with God, we highlighted several benefits of spending time with God. Take the time to read Psalm 19:7-11.

Ask your student to share with you a highlight that they learned from this lesson. Everyone was encouraged to set a time and place this week for when they will invest time with God through personal quiet time.

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith.
