Changed from the Inside Out

Objective - Students will learn that biblical change is a result of heart change and will be challenged to align the way they think about sin with the way God thinks about sin.

Key Scripture - 2 Corinthians 5:17

"Students will learn that biblical change is a result of heart change and will be challenged to align the way they think about sin with the way God thinks about sin."

Key Thought - The heart of change is a change in the heart.

Lesson Summary - Today’s lesson was part of a four-lesson series called “The Basics: Simple Truth for Christian Living.” The four topics in this series discuss four basic truths for every follower of Christ. In this lesson, we investigated what true, biblical change looks like in the life of a Jesus follower.

Lasting change is possible when we have a change of heart—when we renew our mind—and when we align our thinking about a certain topic with how God views that topic. The students were given a sheet with a list of things to put off and put on. But the students were challenged to think about how they could renew their minds before they took steps to put anything off or put anything on. At the bottom of their sheet, they were asked to write down how they could begin to think differently about the thing they should put off. Take the time to work through this activity with your student. Become a prayer warrior for them as they seek to renew their minds, put off the things that God hates, and put on the things that will make them more like Christ.
