Key Scriptures - John 13:35; Acts 2:42-47
Key Thought - There is no unity without community.
Lesson Summary – Today’s lesson is the second part of
a four-week series called “The Church:
All In.” During this week’s lesson your student learned to see the church
as a loving community for encouragement and instruction in the Word. They were
challenged to play their part in building that community. We worked through two
main points to help them view what the church is and how unity is essential.
Here are the main points of the lesson.
I. The
Church is to be unified in love (John 13:34-35)
II. The
Church is to be unified in devotion (Acts 2:42-47)
Your student was reminded that a healthy Christian is one
who is committed to expressing love toward other Christians. The best place for
Christians to begin to love this way is in the assembly of God’s people called
the local church.
Near the end of the lesson we also put an emphasis on prayer as mentioned in
Acts 2:42. We encouraged the leaders and students to take time during their
small groups to pray for one another to play their part in building community
with one another. Perhaps spending some time in prayer with your student this
week would put an exclamation point on the things discussed in this lesson.
Help your student find specific ways that his/her actions can build community.
