Parent Connection - 8.23.2020
Objective - Students will
learn about true freedom and will be challenged to choose to no longer be a
slave to sin.
Key Scripture - Romans
6:1-2
Key Thought - Freedom from
sin isn’t freedom to sin.
Lesson Summary - Tonight’s lesson is part of a series called “Man Alive.” The series focuses on the
brokenness of all human beings. Tonight’s lesson focused on the freedom from
sin.
Before someone trusts Christ as
Savior, he/she is dead in sin and is the slave to sin. When
someone trusts Christ as Savior,
he/she is dead to sin and alive in Christ. Unfortunately,
many times we can live like sin is
still our master. It is easy to abuse the grace of God and
continue to sin on a regular
basis.
We began our discussion with this proposed
idea: “If experiencing God’s grace is a good
thing, and every time we sin we
experience God’s grace, we should just keep sinning. This
way, we get to do what we want and
reap the benefits of God’s grace.” Using the sixth
chapter of the Book of Romans we
discovered that freedom from sin isn’t freedom to sin.
Your student has been challenged
to find a way to remind himself/herself that freedom from
sin isn’t freedom to sin. Have a
conversation with your student to see how you can help
them with their daily battle to
live free from sin.
