Parent Connection - 8.16.2020
Objective - Students will learn how this broken world corrupts our
hearts and minds and will be challenged to find strength through Jesus for
their battle with sin
Key Scripture - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Key Thought - Sin doesn’t have to win
Lesson Summary - Yesterday’s lesson was part
of a series called “Man Alive.” The
series focuses on the brokenness of all human beings. Sin is everywhere, but
sin doesn’t have to win. Tonight, we introduced your student to a world of
snakes. In 2013, Animal Planet aired a show called Infested and highlighted the struggles that a Colorado couple had
against garter snakes. You can view the video here: https://teachersource.wol.org/resource/SBS19/15-1/.
Sin is a lot like these snakes. We all have a sin nature and are bombarded by
sin from the world around us. The struggle is real, but sin doesn’t have to win.
Your
student discovered that Jesus Christ has provided a way to defeat sin. His
death and resurrection is the only remedy for sin. Your student was challenged
to begin a relationship with Jesus tonight. For those who have already trusted
Christ, we reminded them about two major thoughts to help them in the battle
against sin. We reminded them that they are a new creation in Christ Jesus (2
Corinthians 5:17) and they need to reckon themselves dead to sin (Romans 6:11).
Consider having a heart to heart talk with your student to see how you can help
them in his/her personal struggle with sin.
