Parent Article - Parents, Your Kids Need Big Theology

Calling all Christian Parents! At Elevate we believe you are a key part of God's plan for winning and discipling your children. We thought this article might serve as a good challenge/encouragement to someone today, so we thought we would share it here.

In the links above Jessica Provencher, a mother of two, gives some practical advice about ways that they built teaching their children theology into their home life. Whether you decide to use Hymns or not, building a home atmosphere that intentionally points students to Jesus on a daily basis is a big deal! We wanted to ask you, what ways have you found that work well for your home?
You might be thinking, I am the parent of a high schooler, it is too late for that! Trust us, it is never too late to start intentionally pointing your student to Jesus on a daily basis. If you feel like you have fallen short in this don't let that defeat you! If that is true, repent and get up! Remember a righteous parent falls 7 times and gets back up again! (Prov. 24:16) Keep getting up! Don't give up on influencing your students toward Jesus! Do not grow weary in well-doing mom and dad! (Gal. 6:9) The world and the enemy are doing all they can to deconstruct your student's faith, can we afford to do any less?

We want to encourage you in the BIG ministry God has called you to of parenting. That is why over the last two years we have selected curriculums that come with Parent Emails as part of the package. We want you to know what your kids are hearing upstairs and to be engaging with them in discussions over lessons. We even invite you to take up some of the discipleship challenges with them! Why not try to do the verse of the week as a family, or join us in our Word of Life Daily Quiet Time readings? Though you will be seeing a few less Parent Connection posts from Elevate Wednesday's as Pastor Josiah teaches a few off curriculum series, we wanted to remind you that Parent Connections are still going up here every Sunday so you can follow along! If you ever have any questions about what your students are hearing please don't hesitate to reach out to us! (krista@fbcnpr.com or josiah@fbcnpr.com)

Aren't you the youth department?
You might be thinking, "Parenting Seminars and Articles - Feels like a lot of extra work. Isn't ESM just for students?" At Elevate we believe that you are a key part of God's plan for winning and discipling your children and that we cannot do this ministry effectively without you. And beyond that, we don't think God wants us to! Please let us know if there are ways that we can better come alongside you in the challenges that come with parenting. Please, join with us in some of our parent-focused efforts in the future!
