Parent Lesson - 12.29.2019
You Are What You Eat
1. Ask your
student what some areas are that you could pray for them about concerning
temptations that they are faced with every day. Do not be offended if they
do not want to share much on this topic. It can be difficult to share this
with parents. Try to convey to them that you are not going to be
judgmental or even disappointed in them for this. If they do share this
with you, be understanding and kind about it.
Objective: Students will see Jesus’ example of resisting
temptation and will be challenged to rely on the Word of God to defeat
temptation.
Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13
Key Thought:
God’s Word is the recipe to control your cravings.
Lesson Summary: Tonight’s lesson was the final lesson in our
four-part series called “Training Days.”
We examined Jesus’ example of resisting temptation and challenged students to
rely on the Word of God because God’s Word is the recipe to control your
cravings.
Your student
was shown how the Bible helps us recognize certain temptations that we are being
faced with and how to respond to them. At the end of the lesson, your student
was given a “recipe” card. He/she was asked to identify one area where he/she
is tempted to sin and to find a passage of Scripture to help with defeating
that sin.
Here are some
ways you could help reinforce this lesson:
2. Consider
sharing personal struggles and what Scripture verses help you with these
problems. Do not be afraid to be transparent with your student. It is good
for students to see that we all have struggles.
3. Help them as they look for Scriptures to overcome their temptations.
