Parent Connection 12.8.2019

Objective: Students will see how Jesus spent time in prayer even though He had a busy schedule and will be challenged to do the same.

Key Scripture: Luke 5:16

Key Thought: Make time to pray.

Lesson Summary: The lesson this week is the first part of a four-part series called “Training Days.” Tonight’s lesson focused on the importance of having a set time of prayer. Your student was challenged to make time this week for his/her personal prayer time with God. The lesson explored how Jesus made time for prayer because it was a time of renewal and strengthening for Him. If He found it to be important, we should too. Here are some ways you could help reinforce this idea:

  1. Ask questions about your student’s prayer life.
      a.   “How have you made time for prayer today?”
      b.   “What are some things I could pray for you about today?”
      c.   “Can we pray together?”

  1. Share with your student about your own prayer life. It’s okay to explain how it can be difficult to make time for prayer but try to show the importance of prioritizing it.

  1. Offer to help with accountability in this area. If your student would like for you to ask them if they followed through with their prayer time commitments, it could be very helpful for you to ask them about it. Allow them to do the same for you.
