Parent Connection 12.11.2019
Objective: Students will recognize the dangers of being
addicted to technology and will be challenged to make a choice to use
technology to further the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:12
Key Thought: Use it, but don’t abuse it.
Lesson Summary: Tonight’s lesson dealt with the topic of technology addiction. This lesson is the fourth lesson in a four-part series called “Deal With It: A Biblical Approach to Tough Topics.” Your student was challenged to take a hard look at his/her relationship with technology to evaluate if he/she is addicted to it. We worked through a three-point outline of “don’ts.”
I. Don’t abandon technology (1 Corinthians 6:12a)
II. Don’t be addicted to technology (1 Corinthians 6:12b; Galatians 5:1)
III. Don’t miss your opportunity with technology (1 Corinthians 10:23 & 31)
Knowing that technology is not inherently bad, and that God does not desire for us to be a slave to anything, we challenged your student to consider if he/she would make sure to glorify God with the use of technology. Each student was challenged to choose one device and intentionally use it in ways that glorify God. As a parent or guardian, ask you student what device he/she chose and partner with him/her to glorify God with that device this week
