Elevate Sunday - Parent Connection - 10.20.2019

ARE YOU READY?

Objective
: Students will be equipped and motivated to show and share their faith with others.

Key Scripture: Matthew 5:16

Key Thought: We have been given a story to tell.

Lesson Summary: Tonight’s lesson is part of a four-week series on Christian basics called “simple: basic truth for a complicated world.” Each of the lessons in this series deals with a simple truth that every follower of Jesus should understand.

During this lesson, your student learned that his or her own personal Jesus story, or salvation testimony, is something worth talking about with their friends. We worked through the following simple, four-point Testimony Playbook they could use to share their salvation story:

1. Me: Before Jesus
2. Me: Introduced to Jesus
3. Me: After Jesus
4. An Important Verse Related to My Salvation

Your student was asked to consider if indeed they do have a Jesus story to tell. If so, they were challenged to commit to share their story this week with at least one person. At the bottom of their Testimony Playbook, we asked them to fill in the name of the person with whom they would share their story.

Take some time today to work through the outline above for yourself and share your own Jesus story with your student. Commit to sharing your story with someone this week. Talk through the fears you may face when sharing your story and pray together about it. Decide on a time later this week to share with each other about your experiences of sharing your story. Finally, encourage your student to share their story with the person whose name they wrote on their Testimony Playbook.
