Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 38


Dear Parents,
Hello! We are in week 38 of “The Thread.” Thank you for your continued involvement with your student through the weeks. This week’s lesson was entitled “The Crucifixion and Burial of Jesus.” I believe your teenager’s perspective was deepened as they saw the endurance Jesus had to remain obedient during extraordinary circumstances. 
The lesson’s purpose was to get students thinking about what Jesus endured for them—and what they are willing to endure for Him. Emphasis was placed on how Jesus joyfully endured unto death so that we could have life.   

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
  • Matthew 27:32-66
  • John 19:31-42
  • Hebrews 12:1-2

As you read these scriptures, imagine the suffering Jesus endured for all humankind. Then, take it one step farther by imagining the suffering you may have to endure for truly living as a Christ follower in every area of your life.

Next Steps . . .
During the week, set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager:
·         So, Jesus willingly allowed Himself to be put to death for the sins of every human being. How should this affect how we live our lives?
·         What are the most difficult places for you to follow Christ’s obedient example? (You have places that are harder to be outspoken in word and deed about Jesus, too. Share one with your teenager.)
·         How can I help you stay strong in honoring Jesus’ sacrifice?

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart! We looked at the following Scripture passages: 1 Kings 1:28-30; 3:4-15; 9:1-9; 11:1-13 John 14:23-24 While the whole story of Solomon is fascinating, these passages will help you see the highlights that were studied. Creative Discipleship Challenge Details

  Hey Parents! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith.
