Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 33

Dear Parents,
This week we kept moving through our study of The Thread. Our lesson was entitled “Peter’s Confession of Christ.” Peter’s confession was that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah and the Son of God. This was a pivotal moment in Peter's life, the lives of the disciples, and the growth of the Church.
We talked about the role that confessions, or declarations, of faith play in the life of the church today and what it means for your student. That was one of the questions we tackled in our Bible study this week. Hopefully your student realizes that even at a young age they are a vital part of their church and the church at large.
We looked at the following Scripture passages:
  • Matthew 16:13-20
  • Ephesians 2:19-22

As you read these scriptures, think about what it means to be a part of the household of the Church, and your role in it today.

Next Steps . . .
During the week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager:
·         What is the importance of the cornerstone? What does it mean that Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith?
·         Do you feel like you have a role to play in the Church? Why or why not? What is it, or what should it be?
·         Does our family do a good job of proclaiming who Jesus is to those around us? How can we do better?

I hope this resource is a useful tool for you and your student. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to contact me.
