Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 19

Dear Parents,

Hello again! We’re already on our 19th week of our big-picture look at the Bible called “The Thread.”

This week, the lesson was entitled “David and the Psalms,” and it focused on Psalm 23 and helping your student learn that Jesus is the perfect Shepherd who, out of His great love for His children, rescued us once-and-for-all. This poetic view of Jesus as the Great Shepherd reminds us to be aware of the many ways God provides care and protection in our lives. I hope your child enjoyed it.

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
  • Psalm 23
  • John 10:11-15

As you have time, dig into these scriptures. Explore their relevance in your life and how they might be significant to your student.

Next Steps . . .
During the week set aside a few moments to discuss these questions with your teenager:
If Jesus is your “shepherd,” what is our responsibility as sheep?
When you read John 10:12, what do you think is a “wolf” that attacks you? (Be prepared to vulnerably share the “wolfy” things in your life to get the discussion started.)
What experiences have you had that help you trust God to provide, protect and, guide?

I hope this resource is a useful tool for you and your student. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to contact me.
