The Thread - Lesson 4
Dear Parents,
Hello again! We’re already on week four of our study of the
big-picture story of the Bible called The
Thread. This week’s lesson was a
really wonderful time of learning about Noah and God’s covenant promises.
This week, the lesson was entitled “The Faith of
Noah and God’s Hatred of Sin” and it focused on helping students understand the
depth to the story of Noah. In God’s covenant with Noah, we see a measure of
grace and forgiveness. After all, God allowed humankind a second chance even
though He certainly knew that we would be a sinful people still. This is a
foreshadowing of the perfect covenant that Christ would usher in, a covenant
that once and for all provided perfect forgiveness of our sins.
We
looked at the following Scripture passages:
·
Genesis 6:9-22
·
Genesis 7:11-24
·
Genesis 8:13-19
·
Genesis 9:8-17
·
Matthew 26:26-29
You’ll enjoy reading these powerful passages that show us the power of
God’s covenant faithfulness.
Next Steps . . .
During the next week as you have time to talk with your child,
consider asking the following questions:
•
You talked a lot
about what a covenant is this week. What was the difference between the
covenant God made with Noah and the one that Jesus made with us?
•
How does Jesus
confirming His covenant with us through His sacrifice on the cross make you
feel? (As a parent, share what it means for
you to belong to the Lord.)
•
How do we see
Noah’s life changed through the covenant God made with Him? How would your life
be changed if God did the same thing for you?
Elevate Wednesdays
Thank you to all of you who joined us last week for the parenting workshop, we hope it was a beneficial time for your family. We would love to hear your feedback if you have the time to shoot us a message. Feel free to mark down the next parenting workshop on your calendar for Oct. 17th. Next time around Pastor Mickey will be sharing some lessons he learned in his years parenting teenagers. I am sure it will be a wonderful time, so don't miss out.
While you were in your workshop, we continued the Discipleship 101 series last week with a lesson on the Cost of Discipleship. We discussed Luke 14:25-35. We would highly encourage you to engage with your teens about what they are hearing in ESM.
