IMPORTANT PARENT LETTER!

Dear Parents,

Hello again. We hope you and your family are doing well!

We just wanted to give you an important update on what has been happening in the ESM world. Please take a few minutes to read up on our upcoming events; you will be glad you did!

If you have time we would also encourage you to keep up on where we have been going with our lessons. We are so grateful for your involvement and interest in your student's spiritual lives!

Upcoming at Elevate

We wanted to make sure you knew about a few upcoming events at Elevate.
  1. Reverb - Reverb is an all-night event with Word of Life that will be hosted this year in Orlando on Nov. . It is an evangelistic event, and a blast to be a part of! Word of life has two specials going on that we wanted to make you aware of. First, there is a an early bird special that is wrapping up by the end of the month. The early bird price is just $50. That covers the cost of a professional sports game, food, transportation, and the other activities during the lock-in. Honestly, it is a great value for what you are getting and we would encourage you to take advantage. Once October hits it will go from $50 a person to $70 a person, so please let us know if you need the sign-up info. (email Krista with any questions - krista@fbcnpr.com)

50% Off – Evangelism Tickets Available - In an effort to make it easier for your students to invite their friends, Word of Life is offering UNLIMITED half-price tickets to students who do not know Christ. Please call Pastor Josiah to get more information. (josiah@fbcnpr.com)  We are so grateful for Word of Life's desire to get the good news to those that aren't currently enjoying it! We'd really encourage you to talk to your student about bringing a friend!

Elevate Sunday

We’re already on our seventh week of our massive trek through the Bible called, The Thread.  Remember this study shows that all of Scripture is united in one message: revealing God’s redemptive work throughout the generations, as ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ.

This week, the lesson was entitled “Jacob and Esau,” and it focused on helping students see how God is faithful to His plan of redemption and grace in spite of our sinfulness. Students learned to trust God to keep His promises even when it seems that He won’t. God’s perspective is at the same time bigger than we can imagine, and smaller than we know. Finally, students had time to surrender their lives to God’s leading, trusting that His plan for their lives will ultimately be achieved. I hope your child enjoyed it.

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
·         Genesis 25:19-28
·         Genesis 27:1-45
·         Romans 8:26-28

As you have time, dig into these Scriptures. Explore their relevance in your life, and how that might be significant to your teenager.

Next Steps . . .
During the next week, make time to talk with your child. Consider asking the following questions:
·         You talked in youth group about how badly Jacob wanted his father's “blessing.” What do you want so much that it seems impossible for you to wait for God to give it to you?
·         How does it make you feel when you read in Romans that God works all things for your good and His glory?  (Allow your teenager to express whatever emotion they are feeling.)
·         What experiences have you had that help you trust that God will keep His promises?

 Elevate Wednesday

We are continuing our study in the book of Acts. The book of Acts is a wonderfully encouraging book as you see God power through God's people on display. And as an added bonus because of its narrative nature, it makes it an easy read as well. If you are up for it we would encourage you to consider reading through the book of Acts as a family. We won't be able to cover everything on Wednesday's due to time so you and your family will be able to dig so much deeper into the riches of this book! You can use this reading time as a family to possibly hear from your students what they remember from our lessons on Wednesdays. This week we are looking at Chapter 8 so there is still plenty of time to catch up even if you just do a chapter every other night.

Next week we will be establishing out Small Groups for the year as we will be having a group of students from Word of Life Bible Institute join of ESM team. We hope your student is excited about their small group, and we'd love to hear how they are doing with connecting as the year gets rolling.

Thank you for all that you do. If you have any questions about anything, please give me a call.
