Elevate Sundays - Study Overview

Dear Parents,

We’re about to begin a year-long study that is going to change the way your teenager looks at the Bible. It’s called The Thread, and it’s designed to accomplish two things.

First, your teenager will learn the big-picture story of Scripture. So many teenagers simply don’t have a grasp of the narrative of the Bible. Key characters. Key events. Few teenagers understand how these elements fit into the story of God and His people. The Thread aims to change this.

Second, your teenager will learn the importance of the Gospel, and how God's redemptive story fits into all of scripture. Not only will your students learn the story of the Bible, but they will see that it is a story of unfailing love, as God seeks from the beginning of Creation to draw humankind to Himself.

The Thread will teach your teenager God’s story. And it will teach him or her how God wove His thread of love through every page of it. I am extremely excited to be taking our students on this journey.


Here’s a few ways you can help your teenager commit to knowing Jesus more through studying the big-picture story of the Bible.

  • Pray for your teenager and the others walking through this Bible study.
  • Look for some of the verses that we discuss in the follow-up letters and work through them with your student.
  • Be open and honest with them about your own questions you have about the concepts we introduce.

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart! We looked at the following Scripture passages: 1 Kings 1:28-30; 3:4-15; 9:1-9; 11:1-13 John 14:23-24 While the whole story of Solomon is fascinating, these passages will help you see the highlights that were studied. Creative Discipleship Challenge Details

  Hey Parents! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith.
