The Thread - Lesson 3


Dear Parents,

Hello again! We’re on week three of The Thread, and I’ve loved the conversations that have been happening in our group. I hope your teenager enjoyed it. This week, the lesson was entitled “Sin And The Fall,” and it focused on helping students understand where in the story humans rebelled against the Creator, and what it means to practically live out grace and righteousness in their worlds.

We looked at the following Scripture passages:
  • Genesis 2:15-17
  • Genesis 3:1-24
  • Romans 5:18-21

You’ll enjoy reading these powerful passages that demonstrate God’s amazing plan to make us holy in His sight.

Next Steps . . .
During the next week as you have time to talk with your child, consider asking the following questions:
·         You talked about the first rebellion against God, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. What made them distrust God and believe that He didn’t want what was best for them?
·         OK, so Adam and Eve made one bad decision. Why was it such a big deal?
·         What was God’s response to what they did? (Bonus: If they don’t bring it up themselves, ask them about what they talked about in Romans 5:18-21, and God’s grace.)

Elevate Sunday Follow Up - Lesson 20

Dear Parents, This week in The Thread study, we looked at a new perspective. While we know that God’s grace is the only solution for our sin, it is important that we recognize God desires our obedience. In this lesson, titled “The Rise and Fall of Solomon,” students looked at God’s covenant with Solomon. Just as with generations before him, Solomon learned that God disciplines us when we are disobedient. By comparing Solomon’s story with the words of Jesus, students clearly saw that throughout time God has singularly desired our whole heart! We looked at the following Scripture passages: 1 Kings 1:28-30; 3:4-15; 9:1-9; 11:1-13 John 14:23-24 While the whole story of Solomon is fascinating, these passages will help you see the highlights that were studied. Creative Discipleship Challenge Details

  Hey Parents! Thanks to our partnership with Word of Life we are excited to announce that students will again be invited to participate in our Creative Discipleship Challenge (CDC) this year.  Those who complete the CDC are awarded the following: A Free Word of Life Camping Experience A Free Tickey to a night of Reverb with WOL the following year  Scholarship to Various Christian Universities (for details click here ) We love this challenge because it provides a great structure to encourage students in the spiritual disciplines God encourages all of his children to grow in. 1 Timothy 4:7 says, "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.” We want to champion students getting serious about that journey.  The goal is to focus students to develop habits of spiritual discipline in two key areas, growing their faith and sharing their faith.
