Dear Parents, We’re having a great time studying The Thread . We’re more than halfway through our study of the big-picture story of the Bible. Our conversations have been great, and we love having your student in our group. We started the New Testament this week with a great discussion about the birth of Jesus. The big idea was that people search for salvation from a variety of sources, but we know that salvation comes only through faith in Jesus. We looked at the following Scripture passages: · Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-21 · Matthew 1:18-25 · Acts 4:12 If you get a chance this week, read the passages we studied and reflect on the amazing truth of Jesus’ miraculous birth. Dear Parents, Hello again! Wow! We are almost halfway through in our yearlong journey through the Bible. Next week we will turn a corner and start looking at the New Testament. This week we finished up our look into the Old Testament. This week, the lesson was entitled “Messianic Prophecy from Isaiah.” The prophets predicted information about the coming Messiah just a few hundred years shy of a century. They told us everything about the way He would be born, who He would be, and even how He would die for us. Isaiah’s prophecies are probably the best known, and this week we looked at two that were very powerful. We really challenged our teenagers to imagine looking at these words as if they had never heard them before. How would they react if they heard a Messiah was going to die for them before He even came to earth? Then we balanced this with looking at the New Testament words that helped us remember that Christ calls us to Him. Our central focus was that we are...
