What is the Gospel? If you are from an evangelical background you will be quick to offer a working definition of this term. Many are familiar enough to know that the word gospel means “good news” and it truly is! However, one could say that there are many ‘gospels’ common in today’s world other than the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have plenty of friends on social media that want to tell me the ‘gospel’ (good news) of their new multi-level marketing opportunity. A quick study in world religions will show you there are many ‘gospels’ that offer other “good news” about how to be right with God. Evangelicals have done a good job, in general, of identifying and denying these false gospels. However, there are some false gospels that are more subtle. These may be alive and well under church steeples and in Christian homes, and like any lie, they can have disastrous consequences. Dear Parents, I hope you are doing well. I have been encouraged by the things I have seen going on around Elevate. I believe God desires to do a good work among our students, and I would encourage you to keep praying that He would work in a big way in our midst. Know that we are praying for you in your ministry of parenthood often.  Elevate Sunday This week at Elevate Sunday the lesson was quite heavy, as students looked at a powerful example of sacrificial faithfulness. The discussion was solid and the students dug deep. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did! This week, the lesson was entitled “The Offering of Isaac.” The lesson’s purpose was to get students thinking about the idea of faithfulness, even to the point of sacrificing life.
